"The resulting aesthetic is unstaged and unblinking. Think American Gothic or a Norman Rockwell print of the dirtiest thing that ever crawled out of an id."

-Xeni Jardin on "Sex Machines" in an enlightening essay for Wired News

And then, the opening of our elegant exhibition in Manhattan...

We were so fortunate to be able to get together at The Museum of Sex in NY for the opening celebration of Sex Machines. So many great people from all over the country came to share this time: The heart and soul of this project is the inventors, of course, and we were thrilled to find so many travel so far for this party: Eric and Jenny Wilson of The Love Locker, Allen Stein and Daphna from The Thrill Hammer, Donovan Cummings , inventor of The Huskette with his crew that included professional dominatrix Amanda Wildfyre and Dan and Jan Siechert, inventors of Monkey Rocker.

And then the rest of us: Harvard sociologist Mark Pachucki and his cohorts from NYU and Harvard, Jefferson Holt of Daniel 13 with his wife Kate,2 year old son ( ! ), and multitude of friends. The arty brains behind the weekly press: Sue Miklas and Paul Moakley from Newsweek, Special Project Art Director Marti Golon and her man from Time Magazine, and all sorts of publishing players such as Anthony La Sala of Photo District News, Anna Rose Hankow and the glamorous women of Business Week magazine : Ronnie Weiss and Mindy Katzmann.

The superstar duo behind Dirty Found, Jason Bitner and designer Arthur Jones were sharing stories with legendary photo critic A. D. Coleman, Redux Pictures staff Jasmine Jopling, Kristy Reicher, and living icon Marcel Saba were in attendance, as was the entire art department from groundbreakingly redesigned Playgirl magazine.

Brilliant photographers Thomas Broening, Jonathan Saunders, Kreg Holt, Evan Kafka, Cal Crary and Phoebe, and so many more brought along their friends and family...and I do mean Moms, Dads, and inlaws of all ages. My original photography teacher Martin Benjamin and his wife Donna Fitzgerald came in from Schenectady N.Y. Trailblazing TV-B-Gone inventor Mitch Altman was in from San Francisco and gallery director Benjamin Tischer of Sara Tecchia Roma New York was enjoying the show and spreading the word.
